FAQ

What is the target audience for GitLab?

The app can be used by anyone who produces code. It can also be used for other sorts of projects where teams work together, being it administrative or marketing projects. However, it is mainly used by companies and now and then by startups.

Who can I contact if I have problems or questions?

You can get help with GitLab at any time at nws@netways.de and in LiveChat at the bottom right. For general questions regarding the settings we recommend the forum and the documentation of GitLab.

Where can I find my login information?

Username and URL are provided in the Access tab. You will need to set your GitLab password for the root user when you first log in.

What does GitLab contain?

Included are the repositories you created and the configuration of the Gitlab instance. Backups are done on our end as part of an “RBD snapshot”, since the app’s data is kept in our own ceph storage. Creating a backup does not cause any downtime, it happens every night. They are kept for 7 days. The storage stores the app configuration and all the repositories you created.

Importing a backup is possible at any time. For this you need a written request. The duration is individual. Depending on the urgency, the request will be processed either on the same day or in the current week.

How do updates work?

Updates of your GitLab app are performed by us on a regular basis. We first review and test new versions that conflict with our feature set and build them accordingly, this also applies to new features from us. Before we perform an update, you will receive an email with appropriate instructions. In exceptional cases, this e-mail may be sent a few hours before. Exceptions would be e.g. the import of necessary security updates.

When and how can I cancel the GitLab app?

You can cancel GitLab in the contract overview under “Manage Contract” either monthly or annually.
